All through my life, I’ve lived sometimes in a “kid-like” fashion. I chased my own children over the play-scapes, built a tree house with a rope swing, helped them make forts out of cardboard boxes and blankets, and showed them how to look for fairies in the grass at night.
Of course, when the fireflies came out, we always caught them in a jar for a short period and watched the newfangled lanterns before releasing them.
In my own life as a principal, I played with the kids – football, jump rope, and more.
For my teachers, on the opening day of inservice each year, I dressed up with other members of the staff to do some hilarious skits, always with a message to help them teach and serve students better.
If you haven’t been a kid lately, go back and do it. You’ll surprise yourself how good you’ll feel. That’s me being a kid, running through the sneaky sprinklers.
